Men's Golf Jumps To No. 2 In The Country

Patrick Bauer
An All-American as a freshman, Patrick Bauer has helped lead the charge
NEW YORK, NY-  On the strength of two first place finishes and one second so far this fall, the Sonoma State men's golf team has been ranked No. 2 in the latest GolfWorld/Nike Golf Division II National Rankings.  The Seawolves are currently in a tie for that No. 2 spot with Florida Southern, though they did garner two first place votes.

The Seawolves have been simply phenomenal thus far with championships at the Western Washington Invitational and the InterWest Wildcat Classic.  Their second place finish was at the NCAA Division II Preview Tournament, which featured 14 nationally-ranked programs.

Two-time defending national player of the year Jarin Todd has been leading the way with one individual medalist crown and a stroke average of 70.88.  Todd has finished outside the top ten in a tournament just once in the last two-plus years (a span of 28 events).

Nearly as impressive as Todd's play has been that of his teammates, including Patrick Bauer (71.13), Keith Rodriguez (72.88), Ryan Carter (73.88), and Spencer Shishido (75.25).

The Seawolves will host their own tournament next week, the Sonoma State Invitational, at Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club.
