Todd In First, Seawolves In Second After Monday

Jarin Todd will look to make it back-to-back titles on Tuesday
SANTA ROSA, Calif-  Jarin Todd shot a 69-67--136 on Monday to finish the first day of action in a tie for first at the Sonoma State Invitational at the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club.  As a team, the Seawolves shot 13-under in round two to move into second place, nine strokes back of Chico State.

The Wildcats shot a tremendous 15-under 273 in round one to take a commanding early lead.  They followed that up with a 281 as scores went low in round two. 

Kevin Horan leads the Wildcats, and is tied with Todd atop the leaderboard, at 66-70--136.  The low round of the day went to Ryan Sheffer of Notre Dame de Namur, who shot a 65 in round two.

The Seawolves placed all five of their golfers in the top 14 and actually threw out a round of two-under 70 in round two.  Spencer Shishido has been the next best Seawolf behind Todd at 73-69--142.

The tournament concludes with final round action on Tuesday.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  One night removed from a tough loss, the Sonoma State men's basketball team turned in one of their finest performances of the season in an 80-68 win over San Francisco State on Saturday night in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves shot over 70% in the second half to cruise to a victory and earn their first CCAA win of the season.  Sonoma is now 5-6, 1-3 CCAA.  The Gators fall for the second straight night and see their record tumble to 8-3, 2-2 CCAA.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  After Olivia Larkin's running jumper from the baseline with 14 seconds left in regulation tied things up, Sonoma State pulled away in overtime for a 66-59 win over San Francisco State on Saturday night in Rohnert Park.  The win lifts the Seawolves to 5-6, 1-3 CCAA while the Gators drop to 7-4, 1-3 CCAA.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The Seawolves had a nice effort against the CCAA's first place team, but they couldn't finish the job as Cal State Monterey Bay emerged from Seawolf Gym with a 65-61 win over Sonoma State on Friday night.  The Seawolves drop to 4-6, 0-3 CCAA on the season while the Otters remain in a tie for the league lead at 9-1, 3-0 CCAA.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Denelle Baker didn't score her first point until just 2:40 remaining in the game, but her two clutch three-pointers in the waning minutes proved to be the difference on Friday night at Cal State Monterey Bay earned a come-from-behind 61-57 win over Sonoma State in CCAA action in Rohnert Park.  The Otters continue their strong start, improving to 7-2, 2-1 CCAA.  The Seawolves stumble to 4-6, 0-3 CCAA.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Michelle Gardner's put back at the buzzer was the difference on Sunday afternoon as Sonoma State edged Grand Canyon 55-53 in the finale of the 2008 Hampton Inn & Suites Basketball Classic.  The Seawolves snap a five-game losing skid as they improve to 4-5 on the season.  The Antelopes drop to 4-5 as well.

ARCATA, Calif-  Chad Chambers had a breakout game with 18 points and 12 rebounds as Sonoma State rolled past Simpson University 75-45 on Saturday night at the DeBeni Holiday Classic in Arcata.  The win snaps a four-game losing streak as the Seawolves go to 4-5 on the year.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Poor free throw shooting and shaky ball control on Saturday afternoon sent Sonoma State to a 64-54 defeat at the hands of Kentucky State in the second game of the 2008 Hampton Inn & Suites Basketball Classic in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves see their losing streak extended to five in a row as they go to 3-5 on the season.  The Thorobrettes improve to 5-1 with the victory.
