Andrew Kochevar Named Second Team All-CCAA

Andrew Kochevar leads the CCAA in scoring and three-point shooting
Andrew Kochevar finished his career fifth in school history with 1,079 points
WALNUT CREEK, Calif-  Senior guard Andrew Kochevar was Sonoma State's lone representative on the 2007-08 All-CCAA Men's Basketball team as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.  Kochevar earned Second Team All-CCAA honors for the second consecutive year.

The Pacifica native closed out a fantastic Seawolf career by leading the team in scoring with 361 points (13.9 ppg).  A four-year performer for Sonoma State, Kochevar ended his career ranked fifth in school history with 1,079 points. 

Kochevar is also SSU's all-time leader in three-pointers with 214, three-point percentage at .441, and free throw percentage at .833.

Humboldt State's Devin Peal was named Most Valuable Player and Robert Hayes earned Freshman of the Year honors.  A pair of Cal State Dominguez Hills players, Rodney Yearby and Jerrell Smith, were tabbed co-Newcomers of the Year and SF State coach Bill Treseler brought home Coach of the Year honors.

TUCSON, Ariz-  Sonoma State got solid contributions from up and down the bench on Wednesday night in a  78-54 loss to the University of Arizona in exhibition action at the McKale Center in Tucson.  Ben Washington had eight points and five assists to lead the Seawolves in their only exhibition game of the year.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif-  The 2008-09 CCAA Men's Basketball Pre-Season poll was released on Thursday and the Sonoma State men's basketball team was picked to finish where they ended the '07-'08 season, ninth.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  It's not too late to sign up for Session II of this year's Sonoma State Boy's and Girl's Basketball Camp.  The camp runs from July 28 to August 1 at Sonoma State University.  In its tenth year, the camp has been established as one of the top youth basketball events in the North Bay.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-   The Sonoma State men’s basketball team has announced the signing of eight players set to join the Seawolves for the 2008-09 season.  "We are extremely excited about this years recruiting class," said associate head coach Rich Shayewitz.  "We worked hard at identifying our needs and feel that we did a great job in filling them."
