Baseball team celebrating
The Seawolves hope to celebrate again next weekend in Chico
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The seedings for the 2008 NCAA West Regional Tournament were announced late on Sunday night and, as expected, Sonoma State will enter the event as the No. 1 seed.  The tournament starts on Thursday and will be held at Nettleton Stadium in Chico.

As the No. 1 seed, the Seawolves will take on the tournament's No. 6 seed, the University of Nebraska-Kearney.  This will be a re-match of last year's opening round game, which the Lopers won 8-7.  The SSU-UNK game will be the first of the tournament, at 11:00 am on Thursday.

After Thursday's action, the tournament will continue with three games on both Friday and Saturday (11:00, 3:00, 7:00).  Championship Sunday will feature one or two games, depending on the outcome of previous games, starting at noon.

The first four seeds in the tournament are members of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).  Sonoma State won the CCAA Tournament on Saturday, also in Chico.

Thursday's NCAA West Regional Schedule
11:00:  No. 1 Sonoma State (46-13) vs. No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney (33-25)
3:00:  No. 2 UC San Diego (41-16) vs. No. 5 Western Oregon (39-17)
7:00:  No. 3 Chico State (39-15) vs. No. 4 Cal State Stanislaus (37-21)
