NORMAN, Okla- For the second consecutive year, Sonoma State's
Jarin Todd has been awarded the Jack Nicklaus Award as the top NCAA Division II golfer in the nation. Todd joins Phil Mickelson as the only golfers to win the award in consecutive years.
Mickelson was a three-time winner while at Arizona State, from 1990 to 1992. Other past winners of the award include David Duval, Justin Leonard, Stewart Cink, and Tiger Woods.
Todd earned his second straight CCAA Player of the Year award this year as well, helping guide the Seawolves to their first conference and west region championships. The Redmond, Washington native won three tournaments and finished in the top two in seven this season. His season average of 70.39 led the team.
Kevin Chappell of UCLA was the NCAA Division I Nicklaus Award winner. Sam Cyr of Point Loma Nazarene (NAIA) and Scott Harris (NCAA Division III) of St John Fisher were also recognized. All four received their award from Mr. Nicklaus himself at the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
