Season Opening Weekend To Be Televised Live Online

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State Athletics is proud to announce the return of the Seawolf Sports Network for the upcoming men's and women's basketball season. The Seawolf Sports Network will televise the men's basketball games online this weekend as the Seawolves will kick off the 2009-10 season in the Ninth Annual Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic at The Wolves' Den on the campus of Sonoma State University.

The live broadcast is free of charge and there is no registration required. On Friday night, the network will feature four different camera angles from within The Wolves' Den. Gary Day will call game between Sonoma State and Hawaii Pacific with Mike Franco providing the color commentary. Then, on Saturday night, former Sonoma State basketball player Kevin "Birdman" Christensen will be returning to the network for a second season, calling the play-by-play between Sonoma State and Concordia University of Irvine.

Game time on Friday against the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific University is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday's tilt between the Eagles of Concordia-Irvine is also set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. The live feed will begin approximately 15 minutes prior to tip off.

As always, tickets to the 2009 edition of the Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic will be available at the door. Tickets are $6 for general admission, and $4 for seniors and non-SSU students and $2 for children 12 years of age and younger. SSU students, staff and faculty are admitted free with a valid ID card. Also, at every home men's and women's basketball game this season, Sonoma State Athletics is sponsoring High Five Family Nights. A family of five can purchase five tickets for admission to two games, enjoy five hot dogs and five drinks for just $20.

Also competing in the tournament this Friday and Saturday is California Collegiate Athletic Association rival and 21st-ranked Humboldt State. They will play at 5:30 p.m. on both days; Friday against Concordia-Irvine and Saturday against Hawaii Pacific. Those games, however, will not be televised. A complete tournament schedule is listed below. Box scores will be posted at the conclusion of each game.

ARCATA, Calif- Despite a fierce comeback attempt in the final minutes, including 13 points by sophomore Steven Pratt in the final 5:46, Sonoma State couldn't quite make up for a double-digit deficit late in the second half as the Seawolves fell to host Humboldt State, 72-68, in the opening round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament at Arcata on Tuesday night. Sonoma State, seeded seventh in the conference tournament, ends its season with a 11-17 record, after finishing in a three-way tie for sixth place in the CCAA standings at 10-12 last weekend.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif- One week after being named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Sonoma State University sophomore Steven Pratt has been named to the All-CCAA First Team. It was announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

HAYWARD, Calif-  For the second time this season, the Cal State East Bay Pioneers came back from a large second half deficit to force overtime on their way to a victory over Sonoma State.  On Friday night, the Pioneers overcame a 15-point second half deficit to beat the Seawolves 92-84.  Despite the loss, the Seawolves (11-16, 10-12 CCAA) will play in next week's CCAA Championship Tournament as the No. 7 seed.

LA JOLLA, Calif- Freshman Will Olsem scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the first half, including five three-pointers, and sophomore Steven Pratt notched his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds helping Sonoma State sail to a 70-57 victory over host UC San Diego on Wednesday night at RIMAC Arena in La Jolla. The win propels the Seawolves into sole possession of seventh place in the CCAA standings with a 10-11 record in conference play and 11-15 overall. The Tritons fall to 8-16 (7-14 CCAA) and have been eliminated from the conference playoff race.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif-  Sonoma State sophomore Steven Pratt has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 15th through 21st.  Pratt was instrumental in leading the Seawolves to a 2-0 week with wins over Northern California rivals Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus.

TURLOCK, Calif- Behind the 19 points of freshman Patrick Scott, Sonoma State earned a convincing 64-56 victory over Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday night at Warrior Arena, putting the Seawolves just one win away from clinching a berth into the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament. Winners in seven of their last 11 games, the Seawolves grabbed their 10th win of the season and moved to 10-15 overall and 9-11 in conference play. The Warriors, meanwhile, fell to 10-15 and just 6-14 in the CCAA.

CHICO, Calif-  Sophomore Steven Pratt scored a career-high 32 points on Friday night to lead Sonoma State to a come-from-behind 85-78 win over rival Chico State at Acker Gymnasium in Chico.  The Seawolves trailed by 12 at the break and outscored the Wildcats by 19 in the second half to pick up their 17th win in their last 19 meetings with Chico.  Sonoma improves to 9-15, 8-11 CCAA while Chico goes to 14-10, 10-9 CCAA.
