Rain Report: Changes To Baseball Schedule

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State University student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom. During the Fall 2009 semester, 51 student-athletes received Academic Distinction by earning a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Eight of these student-athletes earned a perfect 4.00 grade point average. Additionally, 124 Seawolf student-athletes earned a 3.00 grade point average or higher while pass a minimum 12 semester units. This number represents 50.34% of all Sonoma State student-athletes.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- The Sonoma State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), who initiated the outreach program “Bubbles for Troubles”, is teaming up with a former SSU student-athlete to coordinate the “Haiti Orphan Project”. Taylor Manton, who played for the Seawolves’ volleyball team between 2004-07, will travel to Santo Domingo to provide basic healthcare services for young Haitian refugees affected by the devastating earthquake that destroyed Haiti on Jan. 12.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Thursday night's CCAA women's and men's basketball games between Sonoma State and Cal State Monterey Bay will be available for viewing on the Seawolf Sports Network.  Tip off for the women's game will be at 5:30, followed by the men at 7:30.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  In honor of his 25th year as head coach of the Sonoma State baseball team, the SSU Department of Athletics is hosting a dinner to celebrate John Goelz and kick off his Silver Anniversary season.  The event will take place on January 30th at the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Director of Athletics Bill Fusco announced today that the Sonoma State University’s Baseball program will vacate twenty-six victories from their 2009 season record due to a student-athlete who competed on the squad, yet failed to meet the NCAA minimum enrollment requirements for the spring 2009 semester. The violation was discovered after the season had concluded and was self-reported by university officials immediately to the NCAA. The NCAA has classified the violation as “secondary” and has concluded their review of this case. All corrective actions implemented by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics have been approved by the NCAA.
