Gary Moran Earns Daktronics All-America Honors

Gary Moran ranked third in the nation in earned run average this year
MIAMI SHORES, Fla-  Sonoma State's Gary Moran capped off an incredible season on Friday when it was announced that he has been selected to the Daktronics All-America Second Team.  He becomes the seventh pitcher in school history to earn All-America honors.

A native of Madera, Moran was 7-2 with a 1.37 ERA in 2009, leading the Seawolves to the championship game of the NCAA West Region.  His earned run average is the best in school history among starting pitchers and it ranks third in the entire nation.

For his career, Moran, a transfer from Fresno City College, finished 15-5 with a 2.26 ERA.  That earned run average is the second-best figure in the record books at Sonoma State.

Moran extends the streak of Sonoma State All-American pitchers to three years in a row.  In 2007, Brent Lysander, Paige Dumont, and Bryan Oland earned the honor while in 2008, Matt Means was a First Team All-America selection.

The Daktronics All-America Team is the first of three that will be announced in the coming week.
