GOODYEAR, Ariz.- Aided by even-par 72's by
Danielle Buckman and
Brittany Carrera, the 15th-ranked Sonoma State women's golf team finished fourth on Tuesday at the GCU Fall Invitational at Coldwater Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The Seawolves shot 298 for the second consecutive day to end up just two strokes behind Cal Baptist, the top non-Division I finisher.
Buckman shot 75-72--147 to take 11th place overall. She was followed closely by Carrera, who followed yesterday's 77 with a 72 (149) to finish 16th.
Newcomer
Spencer Heller completed a solid Sonoma State debut with a 23rd place finish (75-76--151). Heller was tailed by
Chelsa Helget-Robinson (76-78--154) and
Tess Russell (72-82--154) in 37th.
The Seawolves did hold the distinction of having the highest-finishing No. 5 golfer.
Northern Arizona took team honors after shooting 285-295--580. The Lumberjacks' Stephanie Kim was the individual medalist at 71-71--142.
Cal State Monterey Bay (296-298--594) and Cal Baptist (298-296--594) tied for second overall, just two strokes ahead of Sonoma (298-298--596) and Western Washington (296-300--596).
