ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  In honor of his 25th year as head coach of the Sonoma State baseball team, the SSU Department of Athletics is hosting a dinner to celebrate John Goelz and kick off his Silver Anniversary season.  The event will take place on January 30th at the Doubletree Hotel in Rohnert Park.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- After 16 years as an assistant for the Sonoma State baseball team, associate head coach Walter White has stepped down and accepted the head coaching position at Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Hard throwing right-hander Tyler Hess has become the third Sonoma State player to be drafted in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft.  The Alamo native was selected in the 19th round by the Atlanta Braves.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State outfielder Tillman Pugh, who sat out the 2010 season as a redshirt, has been selected in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets.  Pugh was the 452nd overall pick and the second NCAA Division II west region player to be drafted, behind teammate Scott Alexander.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Junior southpaw Scott Alexander, an All-CCAA Honorable Mention pick in 2010, has been selected in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Kansas City Royals.  As the 179th overall pick in the draft, Alexander becomes Sonoma State's highest draftee since Brandon Burgess in 2004.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Co-leading the Sonoma State baseball team in batting average this season with a .351 mark, Kyle Jones was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) Division II West Region Team, it was announced Wednesday afternoon.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- While the season may be over for the SSU baseball squad, Kyle Jones and Max Shupe picked up Second Team All-CCAA honors for their outstanding performances in the field. In addition, Scott Alexander received an All-CCAA Honorable Mention for his exploits on the mound. The announcements were made Wednesday from the conference office.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State got contributions from up and down the roster on Sunday afternoon on their way to a wild 13-9 victory over Cal Poly Pomona in the series and season finale for both teams.  The Seawolves will see their 2010 campaign end with a 24-28, 17-23 CCAA record.  The Broncos fall to 26-27, 18-22 CCAA.
