TURLOCK, Calif- Behind the 19 points of freshman Patrick Scott, Sonoma State earned a convincing 64-56 victory over Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday night at Warrior Arena, putting the Seawolves just one win away from clinching a berth into the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament. Winners in seven of their last 11 games, the Seawolves grabbed their 10th win of the season and moved to 10-15 overall and 9-11 in conference play. The Warriors, meanwhile, fell to 10-15 and just 6-14 in the CCAA.

The Seawolves currently sit in a tie for seventh place with Cal State L.A. One win next weekend at UC San Diego or at Cal State East Bay, Sonoma State will qualify for the conference tournament on Mar. 2-6 for the second consecutive season. SSU could even leap frog to the fifth seed in the tournament, but San Francisco State, Chico State would have two lose their next two games, Cal State L.A. would have to lose at least one of their last two games and the Seawolves would have to sweep next weekend.

After a 16-16 tie with nine minutes remaining in the first half, Sonoma State went on a scorching 14-2 run to jump ahead 30-18 over the next six minutes. The Seawolf lead stretched to as many as 13 points with 1:37 left on the first period clock, but a layup by Stanislaus' Jordan Stokes put the Warriors down 11 at halftime at 35-24.

Just over nine minutes into the second half, the Warriors chipped away at the lead and got to within three at 42-39. However, Sonoma State took control again, scoring the next eight points to grab another double-digit lead with 8:50 remaining.

Cal State Stanislaus made for an interesting game down to the wire after Julian Williams nailed a jumper with two minutes left, narrowing SSU's lead to just five. It would be as close as the Warriors would get as the Seawolves held on for the eight point victory.

Scott scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first half and Steven Pratt scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half. Both teams shot 35 percent from the floor despite 10 blocks by Cal State Stanislaus, including six from Matt Ibewiro.

Chad Johnson led the Warriors with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Williams and Stokes added 12 and 10, respectively.

Sonoma State will wrap up its 2009-10 regular season schedule when the Seawolves travel to UC San Diego on Thursday and then to Cal State East Bay on Saturday. Tip off on both nights is set for 7:30 p.m.

Box Score: Sonoma State 64, Cal State Stanislaus 56
