WAIKOLOA, Hawaii- In a field made up of some of the top NCAA Division I golf teams in the nation, the defending NCAA Division II champion Sonoma State Seawolves finished 19th at the Mauna Lani Invitational on Friday afternoon in Hawaii.
Ryan Carter was the Seawolves top finisher in the tournament, placing 77th as an individual.
After opening the tournament with a 331 amidst windy conditions, the Seawolves rolled out scores of 306 and 299 in the final two rounds to move past the other two non-NCAA Division I schools in the tournament, Cal State East Bay and Hawaii-Hilo, as well as Rhode Island.
Patrick Bauer and
Janssen Todd both shot 74's on Friday to hold team low-round honors for both Friday and the tournament in general.
Stanford surged in final round action to take the team title with a round of 286. The individual medalist was Bobby Hudson of Texas (70-73-66--209).
