Sunday's Softball Games Canceled Due To Rain

TURLOCK, Calif- Due to wet weather conditions, Sunday's softball schedule at the Mizuno Best of the West Invitational in Turlock has been canceled. The games will not be made up.

Sonoma State split on day one of the Best of the West Invitational, falling 5-0 to Grand Canyon before bouncing back to explode for 11 runs in a 11-3 victory over host Cal State Stanislaus. Day two of the tournament on Saturday was rained out as well.

The Seawolves will travel to Belmont on Wednesday to take on Notre Dame de Namur before making their home debut on Saturday to host the Argonauts in another doubleheader, beginning at Noon.

Seawolves Hit Five Home Runs To Complete Sweep
HAYWARD, Calif- Off to one of their best starts in program history, Sonoma State continued to show its offensive power, blasting five home runs in two games against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers on Saturday, en route to 3-2 and 9-2 victories at Pioneer Field. The Seawolves have won five straight games, and have also won nine of their last 10 ballgames, improving to 15-4 overall and 10-2 in CCAA play. The Pioneers fell to 4-12.

Seawolves Continue Offensive Showcase In Sweep
HAYWARD, Calif- Ashley Britton had five hits, including three doubles, and Janelle Arnold added four hits and a home run to highlight a huge offensive day by Sonoma State, giving the Seawolves 8-0 and 12-5 victories over host Cal State East Bay on Friday afternoon at Pioneer Field in Hayward. Sonoma State, who is receiving votes in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II poll, improve to 13-4 overall and 8-2, one game out of first place in the CCAA standings. The Pioneers fall to 4-10.

Vanyi, Lipperd Help Seawolves To Split With UCSD
SANTA ROSA, Calif- Rochelle Vanyi hit the go-ahead home run in the bottom of sixth inning and pitcher Samantha Lipperd pitched out of a huge bases loaded jam with no outs to preserve the 4-3 victory over UC San Diego in game two of Sunday's doubleheader at Santa Rosa Junior College. Sonoma State fell to the Tritons in the opener, 2-0. The Seawolves improve to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in the CCAA. UCSD falls even at 8-8 overall and 6-6 in conference play.

Seawolves Sweep Tritons In Saturday Doubleheader
SANTA ROSA, Calif- Pitchers Julianne Martinez and Samantha Lipperd combined to allow just two runs and LeeAnn Stroud hit a home run in game two as Sonoma State swept visiting UC San Diego, 3-0 and 4-2, on Saturday afternoon at Santa Rosa Junior College. The Seawolves have won four straight games, improving to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the CCAA. The Tritons fell to 7-7 (5-5 CCAA).

Weekend Softball Changes; Games Moved To SRJC
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Due to more North Bay rain in the forecast, this weekend's CCAA softball series between Sonoma State and UC San Diego has been altered.  The teams will now play doubleheaders on Saturday (1:00 pm) and Sunday (11:00 am) at Santa Rosa Junior College.  Stay tuned to sonomaseawolves.com for any additional schedule changes.

Julianne Martinez Named CCAA Pitcher Of The Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif-  For the second consecutive week, a Sonoma State freshman has been named the Worth/California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Pitcher of the Week.  Last week it was Samantha Lipperd, this week it is Julianne Martinez, who went 3-0 at Cal State Dominguez Hills over the weekend.

Brandalise Powers Seawolves To Sweep Over Toros
CARSON, Calif- Simone Brandalise smashed a two-run home run and teammates Janelle Arnold and LeeAnn Stroud added solo shots to power Sonoma State past Cal State Dominguez Hills, 7-1, in game one of  Sunday's doubleheader in Carson. Brandalise then added a three-run shot in game two and the Seawolves held on to a 7-6 victory in the nightcap. The Seawolves took four out of five from the Toros this weekend, who improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference. CSUDH fell to 7-5 (4-4 CCAA).
