LA JOLLA, Calif- Connor Olson and Taylor Bianco notched two victories on Friday afternoon -- one as partners at the No. 1 doubles position, the other as the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spot, respectively -- but UC San Diego's Vincent Nguyen outlasted Quan Vu in the deciding match as the Tritons clawed out a 5-4 victory over Sonoma State in La Jolla. The Seawolves fall even at 4-4 and the Tritons move to 8-5.

Olson and Bianco defeated Austin West and Armaun Emami with a narrow 8-5 score, but it would be the only doubles victory No. 36 Sonoma State would get.

UC San Diego, ranked 28th in the nation, got singles victories from Sam Ling (def. Aaron Hamilton 6-4, 6-0) and Junya Yoshida (def. Drexler Dy 6-1, 6-3). Scott Gaynor posted a victory over Naveen Dixit (6-1, 7-5) at the No. 6 singles before Vu fell in the decisive 6-4, 6-2 match.

Sonoma State will continue its three-match road trip tomorrow when the Seawolves take on Hawai'i Pacific at Pomona, beginning at 10 a.m.

Box Score:  UC San Diego 5, Sonoma State 4
