Battle Of The First Place Teams On SSN, Part Two

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- If you missed Saturday's softball doubleheader between Sonoma State and 18th-ranked Cal State Monterey Bay, you won't want to miss Sunday's twinbill. After splitting the two games, including a walk-off home run by Simone Brandalise in game two, the Seawolves and Otters remain tied atop the CCAA standings. The Seawolf Sports Network will bring the doubleheader to you in a live audio broadcast, beginning at approximately 11:45 a.m.

Play-by-play man Gary Day and color commentator Tyler Lobe will be calling the action as it happens, live from the Seawolf Softball Field.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Helping Sonoma State to its best season in program history, five Seawolves were named to the 2010 Daktronics Division II All-West Region team, it was announced Thursday morning. Senior Ashley Britton and freshmen Julianne Martinez and Ali Palermo were selected to the First Team while senior Simone Brandalise and freshman Samantha Lipperd were tabbed as Second Team All-Region players.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- For the second game in the row, the Sonoma State softball team couldn't get anything going on offense as Dixie State's Lauren Folta allowed just one hit, helping the Red Storm to a 8-0 victory in the loser-out game of the NCAA Division II West Regional at Seawolf Field. The Seawolves, who had arguably the best season in program history, ended 2010 with a 43-18 record. Dixie State will face Chico State on Sunday in the championship game. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  For the second straight day, the Sonoma State softball team found itself in a 6-0 hole late in the game.  Unfortunately, unlike Friday's come-from-behind victory that saw them score seven unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth, Saturday's game against rival Chico State ended in a 7-0 defeat.  The loss sends the Seawolves into an elimination game against either Dixie State or Grand Canyon at 4:00 pm on Saturday.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Falling behind 6-0 in the top of the sixth inning, No. 2 seed Sonoma State rallied for seven unanswered runs in its next at bat after a leadoff home run by Janelle Arnold, completing a monumental comeback to avoid the upset and steal the 7-6 victory from No. 7 seed Dixie State on Friday evening at Seawolf Field. With the victory, the Seawolves will face No. 6 Chico State at 11 a.m. Saturday. The winner of the game will secure a spot in the sub-regional championship game on Sunday.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Following a record-breaking regular season and its first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) tournament championship, the Sonoma State softball team will look to continue its success on into the 2010 NCAA Division II Softball Championships, in which the Seawolves will play host to a four-team “sub-regional” beginning on Friday at Seawolf Field in Rohnert Park.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- After winning four straight games to grab the 2010 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament title for the first time in school history, the Sonoma State softball team has jumped into the No. 2 spot of the official NCAA Division II West Region poll, announced Wednesday morning. With a school-record 42-16 overall mark, the Seawolves remained at 19th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll.
