SAN RAFAEL, Calif- Freshman
Spencer Heller continued her impressive run on Tuesday, finishing second overall to lead the 22nd-ranked Sonoma State women's golf team to a second place finish at the Dominican Invitational at Peacock Gap in San Rafael. Heller carded 69-76--145 for the tournament to finish just one stroke back of the overall winner. As a team, the Seawolves were seven strokes back at the tournament's conclusion.
A freshman out of Turlock, Heller stayed strong on Tuesday, backing up Monday's incredible 69 with a 76. That 69 tied the school record set by
Chelsa Helget last year at the GCU Fall Invitational.
Tara Mortimeyer tied Heller for team-best honors in the second round, finishing the tournament at 79-76--145. She finished fourth overall.
The rest of the Seawolves' scoring contingent was made up of Helget (76-80--156) in 6th,
Kelliann Masterson (79-79--158) in 7th, and
Brittani Markowski (85-86--171) in 9th.
The Seawolves return to action next week at the Interwest Chico State Classic.
