51 Seawolves Earn Academic Distinction For Fall
ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State University student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom. During the Fall 2009 semester, 51 student-athletes received Academic Distinction by earning a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Eight of these student-athletes earned a perfect 4.00 grade point average. Additionally, 124 Seawolf student-athletes earned a 3.00 grade point average or higher while pass a minimum 12 semester units. This number represents 50.34% of all Sonoma State student-athletes.
“The success of our student-athletes in the classroom reinforces our commitment to academic excellence. Such commitment is the foundation of our intercollegiate athletic program,” Said Bill Fusco, Director of Athletics. “In addition to the achievements of our student-athletes, it is important to recognize the efforts of our coaches, faculty, and University administration for their support of our academic endeavors.”
Among the programs with the most honorees, Women’s Cross Country led all sports for the Fall 2009 semester with a team grade point average of 3.43.
According to the most recent U.S. Government graduation rates (2002-03 cohort), Sonoma State student-athletes graduated at a 13% higher rate than the general student-body.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif- To conclude another stellar 2009-2010 season by all 13 intercollegiate teams at Sonoma State University, 49 student-athletes were honored by the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) for their outstanding efforts, not only in competition, but in the classroom as well.

The winning ticket (#8998) for the 2010 Scion xB from Hansel Toyota was picked out of a total pool of 6,300+ tickets at Driven Raceway in Rohnert Park on Saturday afternoon.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Jennifer Russo, President of the Sonoma State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) has announced that Seawolves' students will once again lead the SSU campus this spring in the participation in the National Donation Campus Challenge, a partnership between organ and tissue donation organizations and college, universities, and other post-secondary institutions across the nation.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif- For the last several weeks, the Sonoma State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has been raising funds and collecting basic health care items to help a former Seawolf student-athlete lend a hand to those most affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on Jan. 12. On Tuesday, leaders of S.A.A.C. handed over a check of $1,000 to SSU volleyball alum Taylor Manton in support of the “Haiti Orphan Project”.
