Four Seawolves Named ACWPC All-Academic

The Seawolves finished seventh in the WWPA this season.
ROHNERT PARK, Calif- For their efforts in the classroom as well as their competitive contribution in the pool, four Sonoma State student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team. Holly Armijo, Sarah Clauss, Amanda Myers and Lindsay Rangel were part of a list of 297 women's water polo student-athletes nationwide to be recognized.

Clauss and Armijo received Superior status with their cumulative grade point averages between 3.70 and 3.41 while Myers and Rangel obtained Excellent status with a GPA between 3.40 and 3.20. To be eligible for the all-academic award, each student-athlete is required to participate in at least 50 percent of the team's matches and sport a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Clauss, a freshman from South Pasadena, played in 23 matches for the Seawolves in 2010, scoring three goals and adding four assists. Armijo, a junior from Alameda, appeared in all 36 matches and was SSU's second-leading scorer with 45 goals. Myers, a freshman from Oakdale, was in the pool for 24 matches and scored one goal this season. Rangel, a freshman from Chino, started all 36 games for SSU this season, scoring 24 goals and assisting on 19 others and was named to the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) All-Freshman Team.

Sonoma State finished seventh in the WWPA postseason tournament and sported a 9-27 overall record with a 5-13 mark in conference play.
