ROHNERT PARK, Calif- The Sonoma State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is excited to announce a partnership with the Sonoma County Library to help promote reading in the North Bay. The Seawolves are providing game tickets through the library's Summer Reading Program and throughout the month of July, SSU's mascot, Lobo, will be making special appearances at branches throughout the county.
"The Sonoma County Library is very excited to have this new partnership with Sonoma State athletics," said Kathy DeWeese, Coordinator of Children's Services for the Sonoma County Library. "While we always value the chance to make connections with other community resources, this partnership offers so much to the families of Sonoma County. Having Lobo come to the libraries to award the certificates not only helps to reinforce one of the primary goals of our summer reading program, but also it gives our children and families the great opportunity to experience --for free! -- some of the amazing talent that is right here in our own backyard."
Lobo got his tour started on July 7th with an appearance at the Northwest Santa Rosa Library. He was on hand to participate in their "Crafts Around The World" program, and to take photos with several dozen new fans.
From Petaluma to Cloverdale, and everywhere in between, Lobo will be making eight stops all together, concluding with a visit to the Rohnert Park Library (Lobo's home branch), on July 21st at 4:00 pm.
"We're thrilled to be able to hit the road and meet so many new faces," said Associate Athletics Director
Brandon Bronzan. "It's an honor to be a part of a great program like the Summer Reading Program and we hope we can make a few more fans for Sonoma County's hometown team!".
