Vanessa Currie: 55 Games, 14 Girls And One Pitcher Later...

Junior Vanessa Currie (4) is seen here after being mobbed by her teammates after her go-ahead home run in the regional opener against Chico State on Friday in Carson. The Seawolves held on to win that game, 1-0.
(EDITOR'S NOTE:  Junior outfielder Vanessa Currie of the Sonoma State softball team has written a couple of posts for the Seawolves' Insider Blog this season. Be sure to check them out at http://sonomaseawolves.blogspot.com/ to get a student-athlete's perspective into how the softball season turned out.)

With our season coming to an end in regionals on Saturday afternoon, I don't know who all will end up reading this, but I just felt like this 2011-2012 season is something that should have written closure to it.  I have two unfinished blogs from after the Chico (State) series and after the Tournament of Champions, but they were never submitted because I was having a hard time differentiating in words, between what is appropriate for a blog rather than a personal journal.

The Sonoma State softball team finished the 2012 season on Saturday after a pair of losses in the NCAA Division II West 1 Regional Tournament eliminated the Seawolves from national title contention.  SSU finished the season with a 36-19 overall record, placing fifth in the CCAA standings with a 21-15 mark in conference play.
