Jarin Todd Wins InterWest Chico State Invitational

Todd becomes the second individual tourney winner in SSU history

CHICO, Calif-  Sophomore Jarin Todd shot a final round 72 on Tuesday to blow away the field and win the InterWest Chico State Invitational individual title.  Todd finished with a 70-69-72 (211) to edge a trio of golfers, including teammate Kyle Hopkins, by six strokes.  As a team, SSU finished sixth.

Todd's tournament win is the second in the four-year history of the SSU golf team.  Kyle Hopkins won the Southern California Intercollegiate Championship last spring.

Hopkins finished the tourney with a 72-69-76 (217), good enough for a second place tie with Dane Bagnell and Micah Burke of champion Cal State San Bernardino.

Unfortunately for the Seawolves, after Todd and Hopkins, there was quite a drop off.  SSU had by far the best 1-2 punch in the tournament, but SSU's 3-5 golfers shot an average round of 85 on Tuesday.

Cal State San Bernardino had the best round of the day (293) to win the team title by four strokes over Cal State Stanislaus.  SSU was at 905, three strokes behind St. Edward's and four behind host Chico State.

Next up for Sonoma State is their own tournament, the SSU Invitational, October 23rd and 24th at the Santra Rosa Golf and Country Club.
