ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State and San Francisco State played to a 0-0 tie in CCAA women's soccer play on a hot Sunday afternoon in Rohnert Park. The tie moves the Seawolves to 9-5-2, 7-3-2 CCAA while the Gators go to 4-8-3, 3-6-3 CCAA.
With 23 points, the Seawolves remain in prime wildcard contention for the CCAA Tournament.
After a slow paced first half, the second half might have been even slower as there were just three shots taken in the entire 45 minutes, all by SF State. The Seawolves picked it up in the overtime periods, firing seven shots between them, but none went past SFSU keeper Sarah Balderas, who made four saves in the game.
SSU's Carissa Amiral made two saves of her own to record her fifth shutout of the season.
Sonoma State outshot the Gators 11-8 and had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. SSU also carried a 20-17 advantage in fouls and had three yellow cards called on them.
The Seawolves will close out their home schedule next weekend when they host Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona.
