ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Senior Brett Cook headed in a corner kick to lead Sonoma State to 1-0 win over Cal State L.A. in CCAA men's soccer action Sunday afternoon in Rohnert Park.  The win was the second straight shutout in league play for the Seawolves as they improve to 3-3-0, 2-0-0 CCAA.  The Golden Eagles drop to 1-3-1, 0-2-0 CCAA.

Cook scored the game's only goal in the 55th minute when he headed a perfectly placed Stuart Gallant corner kick past a diving CSULA keeper.

"This is a nice win because we didn't play great, but we still got a win against a good team," commented SSU head coach Marcus Ziemer.  Ziemer also noted how impressed he was with his defense as they held Cal State L.A. to just seven shots (compared to 22 for SSU).

CSULA goalkeeper Patrick Fry made seven saves on the day, to keep the margin at one goal.  Clark Rupp made one save for the Seawolves to earn his second consecutive shutout.

The Seawolf defense did a fantastic job neutralizing the reigning CCAA Player of the Year, Morten Marthinsen, who was held without a shot attempt.  SSU sophomore Nathan Medina, on the other hand, had as many shot attempts as the Golden Eagles did as a team, seven.

The Seawolves hit the road for the next three games, starting on Wednesday at Humboldt State.
