TUMWATER, Wash- Led by a second place finish by sophomore Jarin Todd, the Sonoma State men's golf team kicked off the 2006 fall season with a fourth place finish at the St. Martin's Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Tumwater, Washington. Todd, a native of Redmond, Washington, was tied for first after Friday's action, but finished in a tie for second just two shots off the pace with a 69-74-72 (218).
Todd was followed closely by teammate Chris Galvin, who finished in a tie for sixth at 73-72-74 (219). Kyle Hopkins, an All-American last season, finished in 17th after a 77-75-75 (227) performance.
Grand Canyon led from start to finish to take the team title at 292-293-296 (881), two strokes ahead of runner-up Hawaii-Hilo. The Seawolves finished at 293-298-301 (892), eight behind third place Western Washington.
The Seawolves will stay in Washington to compete in the Viking Invitational, hosted by Western Washington on Monday and Tuesday.
