Women's Soccer Humbled By No. 13 UC San Diego

Tracy Webster scored her fifth goal of the year on Friday night
LA JOLLA, Calif-  In a battle between the top two teams in the CCAA, it was No. 13 UC San Diego using four second half goals to defeat Sonoma State 4-1 in women's soccer action Friday night in La Jolla.  The win secures the Tritons' lock on first place in the South Division at 9-1-1, 6-1-1 CCAA.  With the loss, the Seawolves fall out of first place in the North at 8-4-0, 6-2-0 CCAA

Chico State (6-1-1 CCAA) beat Cal State Dominguez Hills 2-1 on Friday to overtake the Seawolves by one point in the race for the North Division crown.

Last year's CCAA Player of the Year, Megan Dickey, got the Tritons on the baord in the 56th minute.  Just ten minutes later, the Seawolves would answer as Katie Houle found Tracy Webster, who netted it from ten yards out.

Though the Seawolves would keep it tied for about 15 minutes, the Tritons put the game away with a three-goal flurry late in the second half.  Heather Sugg, Kathy Sepulveda, and Lauren Segars all scored in less than a five-minute span.

UCSD outshot Sonoma State 22-6 and had 16 shots on goal, compared to just four for the Seawolves.  Carissa Amiral did have a career-high 12 saves in the contest, though she saw an end to her scoreless goalkeeping streak.

SSU will try to rebound on Sunday when they take on Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson.
