CARSON, Calif-  Sonoma State got 18 points from Danae Wellander to edge Cal State Dominguez Hills 63-59 on Saturday night in Carson.  The win lifts the Seawolves back to the .500 mark overall at 10-10, 9-7 CCAA.  The Toros fall to 11-9, 8-8 CCAA.

CSUDH got out to a solid start, building a 13-4 lead over the first eight minutes of action only to see the Seawolves counter with a 9-0 run to tie it up.  The score would remain close the rest of the half before a Toro layup with time winding down gave CSUDH a 23-22 lead at the break.

The teams seemed to trade buckets in the second half until a jumper by Wellander was followed by a Genny Anderson three-pointer to give SSU a 49-44 lead.  The Toros would cut into the lead, drawing as close as three, but SSU was solid under pressure as Chelsey Armacost nailed a pair of free throws to ice the game for the Seawolves.

Wellander picked up her 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.  As a team, the Seawolves shot 53% and they hit over 70% (12-for-17) of their shots in the second half.  Armacost finished with 12 points and Lauren Redfield had a team-high six rebounds.

Brigayle Iglehart had a Toro-high 15 points and six assists.

Sonoma State plays at San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay next weekend.
