Baseball Falls To GCU In Series Finale

PHOENIX, Ariz-  Grand Canyon scored 15 unanswered runs to roll to a 15-5 win over Sonoma State in the finale of a four-game set in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon.  The Antelopes took three of four games to improve to 6-5 on the year.  The Seawolves drop to 5-3.

Things started out well for the Seawolves as they scored four runs in the second inning on five hits.  Jason Buhagiar had a single with the bases loaded to plate two of those runs.  The lead was pushed to 5-0 when Chase McGuire knocked his fourth home run of the season in the third.

Down 5-0, Grand Canyon woke up and scored a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to pull within one.  The major damage came in the seventh and eighth when the 'Lopes plated 11 runs, thanks in part to three Seawolf errors.

Nick Nosti finished the game 3-for-4 and Buhagiar, McGuire and Konrad Thieme all had a pair of hits for SSU.

Sonoma State returns home next weekend when they open up CCAA play against Cal State Stanislaus.
