HAYWARD, Calif-  Everything was clicking for Sonoma State on Wednesday afternoon as they rolled to a sweep of Cal State East Bay with 16-5 and 8-0 wins in Hayward.  The sweep lifts the Seawolves to 6-8 on the year while the Pioneers drop to 1-7.
The first game was tight through two innings as neither team could find a run.  SSU busted things open in the third with three runs off RBI doubles by Melissa Calvin and
Shyrle Hawes.  Up 3-1 in the fifth, the Seawolves scored five times, the big hit being a two-run triple off the bat of Alyssa Adamo.  A Claire Hiney solo home run in the sixth made it 9-2 before SSU tacked on seven more runs in the seventh inning to put the game way out of reach.  Calvin,
Ashley Eisemann, and
Carli Feuerbach had RBI singles, Amy Whitaker an RBI double and Adamo was credited with a two-run home run.
Brittany Williams had yet another solid outing in the circle for the Seawolves.  She allowed just one earned run while going the distance to improve to 4-0 on the year.
The Seawolves busted things open in game two with a six-run second inning.  Bri Jayne and Feuerbach delivered back-to-back two-run doubles and the rout was on.  Jayne, Hawes, Hiney, and Whitaker each had two hits in the five-inning game to lead a 10-hit attack by the Seawolves.
The Pioneers were held to just one hit in the game due to the excellent pitching of
Lindsay Emmel and
Simone Brandalise.  The duo combined to strike out seven and allow just one walk.
The Seawolves continue CCAA play this weekend when they host UC San Diego in a pair of doubleheaders starting Friday.
