ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - The Sonoma State baseball team opened the 2007 CCAA season in stunning fashion with a sweep of Cal State Stanislaus, 16-2 and 2-0 on a soggy Saturday afternoon at Seawolf Diamond.

led the offense with five hits on the day including three doubles and three RBIs. Left fielder Tyrese McDaniel
followed suit with four hits of his own and two RBIs. First baseman Eli Rimes
had three hits and a five RBIs in the opener. Chase McGuire#,
Nick Nosti Konrad Thieme and
Leo Avila each had two hits.
Avila and Rimes each went deep in game one to highlight the offensive showing.
The opening game saw Bryan Oland (2-0) shut down the Warrior offense scattering five hits and allowing only one earned run. He struck out nine batters in seven innings of work. Kenny Cook finished the game with three strong innings allowing no hits.
Sonoma State (7-3 overall, 2-0 CCAA) started the game by allowing two runs in the first inning, but wasted no time in answering back with two of their own in the bottom fo the frame. After that the Sonoma State offense put the Warriors (3-4, 0-2) away, scoring four runs in the third, five in the fourth inning and five more in the sixth.
In game two the story was Sonoam State pitcher Brent Lysander (2-0) who pitched all seven innings allowing only three hits and no runs. He struck out five batters and surrendered no walks.
Sonoma State did all of its scoring in the third inning when
Robert Walden hit into a bases loaded- fielders choice that forced in Thieme. Later in the inning Avila would score on a wild pitch.
The two teams will go at it again at 11:00 am tomorrow at Seawolf Diamond.
