Baseball Wins Series With 17-5 Pasting Of Toros

CARSON, Calif-  Sonoma State exploded to a 12-0 lead after two innings on their way to a 17-5 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday in Carson.   With the win the Seawolves take the series three games to one and improve to 15-5, 10-2 CCAA.  The Toros drop to 8-13-1, 4-8 CCAA.

The Seawolves got 20 hits, coming from ten different players on their way to their season-high 17 runs.  After back-to-back home runs in the first inning by Eli Rimes and Konrad Thieme, the outcome of this one was never in doubt. 

Rimes finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.  David Adler, getting the start at second base and batting leadoff, went 3-for-6 and drove in three runs while B.J. Collom continued his doubles spree with two more, giving him ten for the season. 

Matt Garnett started the game for SSU and went four innings, allowing four runs and striking out three.  He turned it over to Matt Means who pitched a fantastic three innings, allowing just one run in a hitter's park, to get the win.  Means improves to 1-1 on the year. 

Cal State Dominguez Hills got three hits, two of them homers, and four RBIs from Mateo Marquez, but no other Toro had multiple hits. 

SSU will take on San Francisco State on Tuesday in a non-conference game.
