BAKERSFIELD, Calif-  Sonoma State came up with a split against NCAA Division I bound Cal State Bakersfield in CCAA softball action Friday afternoon in Bakersfield.  The Seawolves fell in the opener, 1-0, before coming back to take a 4-3 win in the nightcap.  The split leaves SSU at 9-11, 3-6 CCAA on the year.  CSUB goes to 9-8, 6-4 CCAA.

The Seawolves outhit the 'Runners in the opener, 5-4, but they were unable to push a run across on CSUB starter Kristyn Daniels.  Two of SSU's hits came off the bat of Shyrle Hawes, however, SSU left seven runners stranded in the game due to missed opportunities.

Simone Brandalise got the start and pitched well, allowing just one hit in three innings.  Brittany Williams gave up the lone run of the game in the fourth and was charged with her first loss of the year.

In game two, SSU fell behind 2-0, but rallied to tie it in the third inning when Claire Hiney and Hawes produced RBI singles.  CSUB went up 3-2 in the bottom of the inning, but the Seawolves jumped ahead for good in the sixth.  With two outs, Melissa Calvin singled up the middle, bringing Rachelle Boone to the plate.  Boone saw a pitch she liked and smacked it over the left field wall for her first career home run.

Lindsay Emmel improved to 3-5 with the win after allowing just two hits in seven innings of work.  All three of her runs were unearned as well, by virtue of five Seawolf errors.

The Seawolves and Roadrunners will conclude their four-game series with another doubleheader tomorrow.
