TURLOCK, Calif- Sonoma State ended up on the wrong end of back to back one-run games against No. 9 Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday afternoon in CCAA softball action in Turlock. The Seawolves fell in game one 2-1 before they were edged in the second game, 4-3. The Seawolves go to 15-23, 6-14 CCAA while the Warriors are 24-8, 15-7 CCAA.
Simone Brandalise pitched a fine game in the opener, allowing just one run through the first six innings. In the seventh, the Warriors' Gina Legault singled, then was brought home on a double by the next batter, Jessica Scholl, with the winning run.
SSU got their run on an RBI double in the fifth inning by Ashley Eisemann. The Warrior pitchers held SSU to just three hits in the game.
In game two, the Seawolves again played almost to the level of the ninth ranked team in the country. Stanislaus scored three runs in the first and another in the second off Seawolf starter Brittany Williams. Williams then gave way to Lindsay Emmel who didn't allow a hit over the next 4.2 innings. Unfortunately for SSU, the damage was already done and even though they scored three times in the seventh, it was too little, too late.
Megan Ochylski was 2-for-3 for SSU in the nightcap.
The Seawolves return to action next weekend when they participate in the Mizuno Tournament of Champions in Turlock.
