SEASIDE, Calif. - The Sonoma State women's water polo team entered its contest with CSU Monterey Bay with a perfect 12-0 record against the Otters. However, CSUMB snapped the streak with a thrilling 10-9 victory Saturday morning.
Sonoma State head coach Alicia Hansel pinned the loss on a couple defensive let downs which led to two 5M penalty shots and the the Seawolves' inability to containthe Otters main source of offense, Chelsea Laning.
The Seawolves held a 7-6 lead after the third period but the Otters rallied to score four fourth-period goals to win the game 10-9.
The Sonoma State offenseive attack was very balanced with seven Seawolves contributing. Tasha Thiele and
Jessica Scott led SSU with two goals each.
