Seawolves Drop Close One to UC Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Sonoma State women'e tennis team came up just short of its first win of the season in a 5-4 loss at UC Santa Cruz Friday afternoon.

The Seawolves (0-4) got four points during the singles matches, but the Banana Slugs took all three doulbes points to win the match 5-4. Sonoma State got wins from Raquel Gottfried  at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-0), Laura Robertson at No. 3 singles (6-3, 3-0 ret.), Amy Belsher at No. 4 singles (6-4, 6-2) and Alexis Webb at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-4). It the first win of the season for all four players.

Sonoma State heads back home to host Concordia University Tuesday, March 6, in its 2007 home opener at 2:00 pm.
