ALLENDALE, Mich- The Sonoma State golf team concluded their first ever trip to the NCAA Championship Tournament on Friday with a 306 to finish 13th in the field.
Jarin Todd, the tourney's leader through two rounds, shot a 78 on Friday to finish 20th overall.
The Seawolves, in just their fourth year of existence, advanced to the national finals after a third place showing at the NCAA West Regional. SSU rose as high as sixth place through two rounds, but rounds of 317 and 306 on Thursday and Friday pushed them down the ladder.
Todd, one of the top ranked golfers in the nation, shot 69-72-79-78--298 for the tournament. Despite a couple of rough rounds to close out the tournament, his season was highlighted by four tournament wins, all-region honors, and the CCAA Player of the Year award.
Kyle Hopkins shot a team-low 74 on Friday to finish 27th at 74-74-79-74--301.
Spencer Shishido continued his strong play, finishing 74th at 83-76-78-76--313. Danny MacDonough and
Chris Galvin rounded out the Seawolf lineup.
Barry University is trying to hold off Florida Southern for the team title. The top level teams will be finishing their final rounds on Friday evening.
