Blake Saunders went for 12 points and eight rebounds on Thursday
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The Sonoma State put forth an impressive effort on Thursday night to knock off first place Humboldt State, 66-51 at Seawolf Gym in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves improve to 6-3, 2-1 CCAA with the win.  The Lumberjacks drop to 7-3, 2-1 CCAA.

The Seawolves took the lead midway through the first half and never looked back in a complete performance against their Northern California rivals.  Trailing 10-6, the Seawolves went on a 10-0 run to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Up 27-19 at the break, the Seawolves pushed the lead to 17 early in the second half with a couple of baskets by Mike Nelson and a three from Andrew Kochevar.  The 'Jacks would slowly cut into the lead, drawing to within six with 7:27 left, but SSU stayed strong and held off the comeback attempt.

Blake Saunders led the Seawolves' efforts with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Ben Washington had a team-high 13 points and Andrew Kochevar connected on three three-pointers on his way to 12 points.

Will Sheufelt had 17 points in a losing effort for the 'Jacks.

The Seawolves will host UC San Diego tomorrow night at 7:30 pm.
