Seawolves Ground Golden Eagles, 67-41

Lauren Redfield hit four three-pointers on Friday night
ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State jetted to a 16-0 early lead and never looked back on Friday night as they defeated Cal State L.A. 67-41 at Seawolf Gym in Rohnert Park.  The Seawolves got solid contributions from up and down the bench as they improve to 14-4, 8-3 CCAA.  The Golden Eagles drop to 6-11, 3-8 CCAA.

Genny Anderson led a parade of ten Seawolves that scored with 14 points.  She also had six rebounds.  Lauren Redfield was stellar as well, especially in the first half, hitting four three-pointers for 12 points.  Danae Wellander set a career-high with ten assists, becoming the first SSU player to hit double digits in the category since 1999.

Due to the large lead, SSU head coach Mark Rigby was able to get quality playing time for his reserves and they did not disappoint.  Christy Shreve had six points and six rebounds, Olivia Larkin set a career-high with nine points, and Michelle Gardner played 17 solid minutes, racking up a couple of points and three rebounds.

Cal State L.A. had the game's high scorer in Amber Whittington, who had 15 points.  Jazzi Johnson was 3-for-3 from the field for ten points and Veronica Williams grabbed nine rebounds.

SSU held the Golden Eagles to 30% shooting and forced 20 turnovers.  CSULA was able to shoot just 1-for-15 from three-point territory.

The Seawolves will host Cal State Dominguez Hills tomorrow night.
