TURLOCK, Calif- Sonoma State got solid contributions from up and down the bench on Saturday night in a decisive 76-52 win over Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday night in Turlock. The win pushes the Seawolves to 18-7, 12-6 CCAA.
The Seawolves move into a third place tie with UC San Diego as the Tritons lost to Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday night. SSU is two games ahead of the fifth place teams (Humboldt and SF State), meaning that with two games remaining, all SSU has to do is win one more game to be a host in the first round of the CCAA Tournament.
The Warriors got out to an early 6-3 lead, but it was quickly erased when the Seawolves went on an 11-0 run to take control of the contest. Leading by seven at the break, SSU quickly grew the advantage to double digits in the second half. Stanislaus wouldn't threaten again as the Seawolves were able to get quality playing time for the reserves.
The Sonoma State bench outscored the Stanislaus bench 33-5 in the game.
Genny Anderson led all Seawolf scorers with 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting.
Lauren Redfield had 11 points and
Michelle Gardner posted ten in just nine minutes. Other quality efforts were turned in by
Christy Shreve and Olivia Larkin off the bench. The CCAA's assist leader
Danae Wellander added six more to her impressive total.
Kate Busi had 19 points and ten rebounds for the Warriors. Leading scorer Shristy Kumar had 13 points and Lysandra Williams produced ten points.
