PUEBLO, Colo. --
After finishing singles play knotted at three apiece, the Sonoma State men's tennis team would look to finish the job in doubles, and it would do just that.  Colorado State-Pueblo claimed the win at No. 1 doubles and the duo of Vincent Paganetti and Ryan Harris earned the other win at No. 3 to tie the match at 4-4, leaving the outcome in the hands of Drexler Dy and Robert Henry.  Dy and Henry surrendered a 7-4 lead to their opponents, forcing a tiebreaker that the Seawolf duo pulled out in an emotional 9-8 (7-5) win to seal the 5-4 match victory for the Seawolves.  It snaps an 11-game losing streak for Sonoma, which improves to 3-14.

It was a thriller from start to finish, as all but one singles match took extra sets to decide.  Paganetti cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles while Matt Roberts -- 6-4, 7-6 (10-2) -- and Seth Hein -- 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 -- recorded victories at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

The Seawolves lost at No. 2, 3 and 4 singles, which set up the battle in doubles play.  All three doubles matches were extremely close, and while Paganetti and Harris won 8-6 at No. 3 doubles, Hein and Jimmy Manning lost 8-6 at No. 1.  Dy and Henry initially took a 7-4 lead and needed just one more point to clinch the victory, but Colorado State-Pueblo's Anthony Breitenback and Tom Chavez battled back to force a tiebreaker at 8-8.  However, Dy and Henry pulled out the exciting 7-5 tiebreaking win to send SSU into the win column for the first time since Feb. 7.

For his efforts this weekend, Roberts earned All-CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves Tennic Classic Team honors in singles play.  He went 2-2 at No. 1 singles this weekend, earning wins on Friday against Bethany's Laurentsi Arakhamiya and on Sunday against CSU-Pueblo's Alex Lesiuk.

Sonoma State will play two more matches on the road before its next home match on Apr. 6; the Seawolves will head to La Jolla to take on Grand Canyon and BYU-Hawaii on back-to-back days (Mar. 29-30).
