(Written by Craig Lifto, SSU Sports Information)TURLOCK, Calif. -- The Sonoma State women's basketball team couldn't withstand a fast start by Cal State Stanislaus and lost 82-69 on Friday night at Fitzpatrick Arena in Turlock. The Seawolves have lost three straight games, dropping to 4-5 in the CCAA and 6-7 overall. The Warriors improved to 2-7 in conference play and 4-9 overall.
A 12-0 run that started at 14:07 of the opening half gave the Warriors a 23-9 lead that doomed the Seawolves as they were never able to cut into the deficit the rest of the way. The Warriors were able to open up a 50-31 lead heading to the half. The second half was a bright spot for the Seawolves as they tightened-up defensively and outscored the Warriors, 38-32.
Sonoma State shot 37.9% for the game compared with 41.2% for the Cal State Stanislaus. The rebounding category went the way of the Warriors, 41-31. The Warriors shot 31 three-pointers and they connected on 14 of them (45.2%). The Seawolves made 3 of 15 (20.0%) from long-range.
Tanner Adams led all Seawolves scorers with 11 points.
Molly Donovan and
JoNae Gonzalez each had eight points.
Taylor Acosta had six points and six rebounds.
Madison Burroughs had three steals.
Camille Roberts led all-scorers with 22 points. Teammate Jasmine Washington had 16 on the night.
Sonoma State finishes off four consecutive on the road when they visit Chico State Saturday at 5:30 P.M.
