Seawolves Scare Pioneers In Three-Set Halloween Victory

ROHNERT PARK -- The Sonoma State women's volleyball team hit above .400 as a team for the third time this season -- and the second time against Cal State East Bay -- in Saturday's 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-16, 25-23) on Halloween night at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.

The 22nd-ranked Seawolves have won 14 consecutive matches, improving to 18-3 overall and 14-1 in the CCAA.  The Pioneers have lost 12 of their last 13, falling to 4-20 (2-14 CCAA).

Caylie Seitz led the way with 14 kills and a .571 hitting percentage while Lexi Reddick scored a match-high 15.0 points on 11 kills and a career-high four service aces, three of which came within a stretch of six points in the second set.  Calan Seitz had three aces and led the way with 19 assists.  Madelyn Densberger had a team-best nine digs, assisting on three blocks.  Rachel Andrews was on fire, slamming eight kills to the floor on nine attempts to go along with five blocks (one solo), moving her into second place in the CCAA in blocks per set (1.23).

The Seawolves hit .419 as a team, hitting one percentage point better than their last match against Cal State East Bay back on Oct. 16 in Hayward.  They came out on fire in the opening frame, hitting .560, but the Pioneers, too, were on fire, hitting .391.  In the end, CSUEB hit just .245, led by Michaela Gardner, who had 10 kills.

Sonoma State will hit the road for its final three regular season road matches next weekend, heading to southern California for dates with Cal State Dominguez Hills (Friday), Cal State L.A. (Saturday) and Cal State San Marcos (Sunday).  The Seawolves will then return home for their final regular season home matches of 2015 the following weekend to face Stanislaus State (Nov. 13) and Chico State (Nov. 14).
