Rohnert Park, Calif. - In their first home game since sweeping a doubleheader against Cal State East Bay on March 19, the Sonoma State Seawolves were handed their biggest home loss of the season as the San Francisco State Gators handidly defated the Seawolves, 12-1.
A scoreless game until the fourth, the Gators scored in each of the next four innings to run away from the Seawolves for the non-conference victory. San Francisco State also won a game in San Francisco back on February 23, 6-1.
Sonoma State answered the three-run fourth inning with a run in the bottom half as
Jackson Leslie singled to left field. The ball got by Chris Nicholoson for an error, allowing
Grant St. Martin to come around and score what proved to be the team's only run.
St. Martin went 2-for-3 to push his batting average back above the .300 mark (.304).
Ryan O'Malley,
Tyler Glenn and
Rayson Romero all had hits as well for the Seawolves, with O'Malley hitting his team-best 12th double of the season.
UP NEXT: Sonoma State returns to Seawolf Diamond on Saturday, April 9 to begin a three-game series with UC San Diego. It will be a doubleheader that day, with the first game set to begin at 11 a.m.
