ARCATA, Calif. -- Madison Burroughs led a trio of Sonoma State women's basketball players in double figures, but it wasn't enough in Saturday's 68-55 loss at Humboldt State in Arcata. The Seawolves fall to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks improve to 6-5 and 5-1 in conference action.
Burroughs dropped in a team-high 12 points with six rebounds before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter,
Carly Gill added 11 points with four assists and two rebounds and
Ugochi Anudokem chipped in with 10 tallies and six boards.
The Seawolves accounted for eight of the 10 steals in the contest, but they also struggled to hold onto the ball, committing 19 unforced turnovers which turned into 23 points for the hosts as opposed to just six points for SSU off of 13 Humboldt giveaways. Sonoma shot 38.5 percent from the floor (20 of 52) hitting six three-pointers. Humboldt connected on 39.3 percent (22 of 56) and drained 10 shots from beyond the arc.
HSU's Isamar Conde led all players with 22 points and her teammate Kindall Murie went for 17 points, 15 of which came from long range.
Sonoma State will play one final game before the holiday break, a Tuesday evening date with the No. 2 ranked team in the nation, Alaska Anchorage (10-0). The battle of the Seawolves will commence at 6:00 pm in The Wolves' Den.
