Guardino's Walkoff Sweeps Senior Day Doubleheader

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — Tied in extra innings with Dan Deely standing on first, Zach Guardino drove in the game-winning run with a doubled to left field, scoring the Seawolves third baseman and giving Sonoma the walk off win on Senior Day. With the game two win, Sonoma State swept Friday's double header, winning game one 7-6 and game two 5-4.

Game 1
Prior to the start in game one, a ceremony was held to honor all 14 graduating seniors, with nine of those graduates earning a spot in game one's starting lineup.

San Francisco was the first team to score on Friday when Brady Dorn singled in the top of the first scoring two. They added another run in the second inning giving them a 3-0 lead. The Seawolves responded in the bottom of the second inning. Ryan Emerick singled scoring Romero and heads up running by Nicco Toni allowed Sonoma State to plate two runs on the play. Zach Guardino followed with a ground rule double to tie the game at 3. During the next at bat, the San Francisco pitcher balked to score Emerick and to give the Seawolves a 4-3 lead.

In the top of the third, Harris doubled for the Gators scoring Rogers tying the game at 4. The Seawolves managed to load the bases in the sixth inning and regained the lead with an Emerick walk. Guardino followed the walk by getting hit by a pitch giving the Seawolves a two-run lead. In the bottom of the eighth, Mitch West hit his second home run of the year, giving the home team a 7-4 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, San Francisco State attempted to come back when Lopez homered scoring two runs, however Grant Saint Martin entered the game and struck out the last out clinching victory for the Seawolves. It was St. Martin's sixth save on the year.

Dominic Garihan got the win out of the bullpen pitching 7.2 innings in relief for starter Nick Vega. He moves to 4-5 on the year. Grant Vogenthaler got the loss for San Francisco State, he is now 4-6.

Game 2
The Seawolves scored first in game two starting in the fourth when Joshua Lenny and Mitch West smashed back to back home runs to left, giving Sonoma State an early 2-0 lead. SSU managed to load the bases in the fifth inning scoring two runs in the inning and building the lead to 4-0.

San Francisco State stormed back in the sixth when they managed to score four runs to tie the game at 4 forcing the game to go into extra innings. Each team held each other scoreless in the first extra inning. In the bottom of the ninth Zach Guardino won the game for the Seawolves with his double to score Dan Deely.

Senior Jackson Berumen pitched six innings and gave up four runs while striking out 5. However, Grant St Martin pitched three innings of relief and got the win and moves to 3-1. Cameron Crone got the loss and moves to 2-4.

Sonoma State in now 26-23 and 22-21 in CCAA play. They play their final regular season game tomorrow afternoon with postseason implications. First pitch will be at noon.
