San Bernadino, CA - Sonoma State defeated UC San Diego in 5 sets on Thursday afternoon to advance to the CCAA Semi-Finals.
SSU won the first and third sets while UC San Diego won the second and fourth to force the deciding 5th set. After falling behind early in the set Sonoma State rallied to win 15-12 and move on to the semi-finals.
Tate Battistini came up big with 22 kills in the match.
Bailey Palestini added 15 and
Kiana Richardson 11 for the Seawolves. Key to the victory for SSU was
Adriana Baysinger's 5 service aces.

Bear Grassl was pleased with effort and outcome, "I felt like we were confident having beaten them before and that we have been steadily improving despite the obstacles of school closing down twice during the season." He said following the win. "We have played a few 5 game matches lately, so we stayed relaxed. We got great contributions from our older players. That made it easier."
Now its on to the semi-finals where the Seawolves meet the winner of game 2 between Cal State LA and SF State. The next round is scheduled for Friday, Nov 22 and 5:00 PM.
