Rohnert Park, Ca - It was Senior Night in the Wolves and the SSU Volleyball team needed a win to keep CCAA Playoff hopes alive. It took 5 full sets but the Seawolves pulled it off 3-2 over Cal State East Bay. The win puts Sonoma State in a good position to make the CCAA with a conference record of 7-6.
It was a back and forth match, SSU won the first set 25-14 and East Bay the second by the same score. The teams split teh next two games as well forcing a 5th and deciding set won by the Seawolves 15-12.
Jenn Trephan sets up the attack
Kiana Richardson led the attack with 15 kills.
Ashleigh Phelps had another great game defensively with 22 digs.
Jenn Trephan set the table nicely with 29 assists.
East Bay made things difficult all net with some great blocking. Offensively Freshman OH Kara Green had 14 kills for the Pioneers.
"It was a roller coaster match tonight," Said Coach
Bear Grassl after the deciding set, "We got great balanced production when we really needed it in that fifth game."
