Rohnert Park, Calif. -- The Seawolves fell 80-65 to the Tritons of UC San Diego. Sonoma State is now 8-16 overall and 6-13 in the CCAA.
The Seawolves stayed within 10-points of the Tritons for most of the first half, shooting 42.3 percent (11-for-26) from the field, 28.6 percent (2-for-7) from the arc, and 77.8 percent (7-for-9) from the line.
Despite a 45-31 halftime score, the Seawolves scored seven of the first 11 baskets to get within 10-points of the Tritons. Halfway through the second have
Mason Phillips recorded a 3-pointer to bring the Seawolves in reach of the Tritons 60-51.
Sonoma shot 28.6 percent (2-for-7) from the three-point line 50 percent (13-for-26) from the field and 66.7 percent (6-for-9) from the charity line for a final score of 80-65.
Sonoma States offense was led by three double-digit performances by
Jordan Hickman (14-points),
Nick Klarman (11-points), and
Lewayne Grant (11-points). Klarman shot a season-high 100 percent (1-for-1 from the charity line, 4-for-4 from the field, making 2-of-2 three-pointers). Hickman, shot 2-for-2 from the line and 6-for-10 from the field, while Grant shot 3-for-9 from the field (1-for-1 from the arc) and 3-for-5 from the charity stripe.
After falling 80-65 to the Tritons, the Seawolves are now 8-16 overall and 6-13 in the CCAA.
Sonoma State returns to the Wolves' Den Saturday, February 23rd for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff, where they will recognize five seniors playing in their final home game.
