Santa Rosa, Calif. -- Seawolves won its first series 3-1 over Cal State San Marcos. Sonoma State is now 7-9 overall and 6-7 in the CCAA.

An early 2-0 lead in the second set the tone for the Seawolves Sunday opening 11-5 win over the Cougars. In the second inning,
Patrick Tolbert scored on a passed ball, and
Bryce Vitt singled down the right field line to score
Joshua Lenney.
In the top of the fifth, the Cougars got on the board with a single through the left side to cut the Seawolves lead in half 2-1.
Zach Guardino doubled to right center to score
Matt Hill and
Jake Hernandez to extend the Seawolves lead to 4-1.
Sonoma States offense stayed hot, as
Dan Deely singled through the left side to score Hill and Hernandez.
Following seven innings the Seawolves held a 5-point 6-1 lead over the Cougars.
Cal State San Marcos put on a four-hit, four-run eighth inning to come within one point of the Seawolves.
After the Cougars put up four runs, the Seawolves added on again. Lenney scored on an error by the shortstop. Hernandez stroked a double to left field to bring
Jack Pridy home. A two-run blast up the middle by Hill scored Hernandez and Deely, helped secure the victory for Sonoma State.
Guardino added an insurance run with a single to center field to score Hill for an 11-5 final.

A low scoring suspenseful finale of the series ended in a 4-2 Seawolf victory.
Sonoma State struck first, when Lenney singled to left field to score Abate.
In the third the Cougars tied the score 1-1 with a double to right center.
Hill hit a bomb over the right field fence, his first of the season.
The Seawolves cushioned its lead with a pair of runs off Lenney's double to right center.
Up 4-1, Cal State San Marcos crossed the plate for the last time for a 4-2 final score.
