San Francisco, Calif – Sonoma States 2019 campaign ended with three wins over San Francisco State University.
The Seawolves ended the season 25-25 overall and 22-22 in the CCAA.
The two teams concluded a game from the beginning of the season that was halted due to the sun setting, the Seawolves won 16-4.
Game One: Sonoma State 8, San Francisco State 5
A Gator error and back to back singles through the 4-3 hole loaded the bases with no outs, then a pair of RBI sac hits to put two on the board.
With two down and bases loaded, the Gators drew a full-count walk to score its first run and cut the Seawolves lead in half.
A liner in up the middle by the Gators tied the game 2-2 with two down in the second, followed by a hit through the left side to gain a 3-2 lead.
Top of the seventh with one down Lenney hit a shot over left center to tie the game 3-3.
Drew Downing knocked a single; then
Dan Deely wore a pitch to put Seawolves on first and third.
Anthony Clyma pinch hit and fought off a full count with a double through the right side to score Downing to take the lead 4-3. Deely took advantage of a wild pitch to extend the Seawolves lead to 5-3.
In the bottom of the seventh Sonoma State kept the Gators from scoring, picking of David Mansell in a rundown at third.
Loaded bases in the top of ninth with no outs. Zach Gaurindo knocked a two-run single up the middle to add a pair of insurance runs for the Seawolves (7-3).
Joshua Medina added the eighth run scoring off a wild pitch.
The Seawolves saw two pitching changes in the bottom of the ninth after giving up two hits and one run (8-4).
John Cashman took to the mound with runners on first and third with one down, gave up an RBI single (8-5) then came back to retire two Gators.
Robert Baldenenbro was credited the win, and Cashman earned the save.
Game Two: Sonoma State 1, San Francisco State 0
Medina got on by way of a Gator fielding error, then stole second. With two outs and a runner in scoring position, Korey Brown singled to left center to bring Medina home for the games first run.
The Gators knotted the score in the bottom of the third capitalizing on a double steal.
Patrick Tolbert helped the Seawolves regain its lead with a first-pitch solo homer over left field for the game winner.
