Rohnert Park, CA - This morning Sonoma State President, Judy Sakaki, released a statement on the status of the university and updated news and information on the COVID-19 situation. President Sakaki stated in her release that Sonoma State has reached an agreement with the Sonoma County Department of Health Services, to allow health care workers to use space on campus as an Alternate Care Site (ACS). President Sakaki and the University have discussed and set aside specified areas of campus to be used for the ACS that are out of the still populated areas on campus.

President Sakaki also states that, "By entering into this agreement, Sonoma State is meeting its civic as well as moral obligations to do all that we can to assist in the global effort to slow the spread of this deadly pathogen and to address the needs of our community" (Sakaki). Judy Sakaki has ensured the safety of Sonoma State employees as well as students that are still on campus and say's that "once the alternative care site is in operation, it will be isolated from the rest of campus as much as possible. Those students who still remain in residential housing will be living in units that are away from this designated Alternate Care Site" (Sakaki).
